Abstrak

"Indonesian Maritime Culture based on RALL to Improve Middle School Students' Communication Skills" is an innovative work that integrates English language learning with Indonesia's rich maritime culture, specifically for junior high school students. This book is designed as a teaching material that focuses not only on linguistic aspects but also on strengthening cultural identity and developing students' communication skills in a contextual and meaningful way.

Adopting the RALL (Reflective, Active, Lifelong Learning) approach, packaged through the SANDEQ (Start with Stories, Acquire Knowledge, Navigate with AI, Discuss & Do Together, Express Through Tasks, Question, Reflect, Assess) learning model, this book provides an interactive, collaborative, and technology-based learning experience. Each learning unit is systematically designed to encourage students to actively think, discuss, express themselves, and reflect on their learning process.

The material in this book begins with an introduction to the basic concepts of Indonesian maritime culture, including the noble values contained therein, such as cooperation, courage, and local wisdom. Maritime culture is presented through contextual stories, such as the story of the traditional Sandeq boat. This not only enriches students' cultural insights but also serves as an engaging language learning tool.

Furthermore, this book emphasizes the importance of communication skills in everyday life. Students are trained to develop their speaking, writing, reading, and listening skills through various activities such as AI-based role-plays, group discussions, creative writing exercises, and collaborative projects. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in learning provides added value, helping students receive direct and personalized feedback.

Each unit is equipped with various learning features, such as reading texts, vocabulary exercises, grammar practice, worksheets, creative projects, and assessment tools such as quizzes, self-reflection, and peer assessment. This aims to ensure that the learning process is holistic and measurable.

Overall, this book serves not only as an English language teaching material but also as a means to instill the values of Indonesian maritime culture and shape a communicative, creative, and character-driven young generation. This book is highly relevant for use by teachers and students as part of 21st-century learning that emphasizes the integration of culture, technology, and life skills.
